Katie and Bryan's wedding at The Gallagher Barn in Medina, New York was one of those celebrations where every part of the day flowed naturally, from the quiet moments getting ready in the historic mansion to the incredible golden hour ceremony, an unforgettable reception, and a packed dance floor led by one of Western New York's favorite live wedding bands.

Getting Ready Inside the Historic Mansion


One of the things that makes a Gallagher Barn wedding so unique is that couples don't have to travel between multiple locations throughout the day.

The property features a stunning historic mansion that serves as the perfect place for everyone to get ready. Rather than feeling like a typical bridal suite, the mansion offers beautifully restored rooms filled with natural light, elegant architectural details, soaring ceilings, and an openness that photographs beautifully.


The wide hallways and gorgeous open space created plenty of space for everyone to relax throughout the morning while hair and makeup wrapped up.

Emotional First Looks Inside the Mansion


Before the ceremony, Katie shared one of the most emotional moments of the day with her father.

Inside the mansion's grand gathering room, surrounded by soaring ceilings, elegant architectural details, and beautiful natural light streaming through the windows, Katie tapped her dad on the shoulder for their first look. As he turned around and saw his daughter in her wedding dress for the first time, the emotion on his face said everything. It was a quiet, heartfelt moment that perfectly captured the excitement and significance of the day.


The mansion provides an incredible setting for moments like these. The spacious rooms allow family and friends to be present without feeling crowded, while the abundant natural light creates timeless, authentic photographs in every direction.


Following her first look with her dad, it was time for Katie to reveal her dress to her bridesmaids. Waiting together just outside the grand living room lined up on the stairwell, the girls erupted with excitement the moment they saw her. There were hugs, laughter, happy tears, and endless smiles as they admired every detail of her bridal look.


These emotional first looks set the tone for the rest of the wedding day. A Beautiful Outdoor Ceremony Beneath the Pavilion


With family and friends gathered beneath The Gallagher Barn's beautiful outdoor pavilion, Katie and Bryan exchanged vows in one of the venue's most picturesque ceremony spaces.


Rather than harsh overhead light, the ceremony was perfectly timed with the sun sitting behind the pavilion, creating a warm, glowing backdrop that added incredible depth and atmosphere to the ceremony. The natural backlighting gave the entire space a soft, romantic feel while still allowing guests a comfortable place to celebrate outdoors.

The pavilion is one of my favorite ceremony locations in Western New York because it offers the best of both worlds. Couples get the beauty of an outdoor wedding while still having the comfort and coverage of a permanent structure. The open surroundings allow plenty of natural light to filter through while framing the ceremony with the property's scenic landscape.


As Katie walked down the aisle, every smile, tear, and embrace was beautifully illuminated by the evening sun, creating timeless images that perfectly captured the emotion of the moment.

Wedding Portraits Around The Gallagher Barn


While guests enjoyed cocktail hour, we explored the property for portraits around The Gallagher Barn. We started with one of the venue's signature photo locations in front of the iconic white barn, creating timeless images that perfectly captured the character of the venue.


From there, we wandered around the historic mansion, chasing beautiful pockets of evening light as the sun filtered through the trees. The relaxed pace of cocktail hour gave Katie and Bryan a chance to simply enjoy being newly married while we created natural, candid portraits throughout the property.


One of the best parts about The Gallagher Barn is the variety of backdrops all within walking distance. Between the historic mansion, the iconic barn, and the beautifully landscaped grounds, couples can capture a diverse wedding gallery without ever leaving the venue.

Cocktail Hour, Golden Hour & A Reception to Remember


Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a relaxed cocktail hour with delicious hors d'oeuvres while exploring the beautiful grounds of The Gallagher Barn. As the evening sun dropped lower, the property was bathed in gorgeous golden light, creating the perfect atmosphere for candid moments and portraits as guests mingled outdoors.


Inside the barn, the reception began with heartfelt speeches, memorable first dances, and joyful parent dances before the celebration shifted into high gear. Atlas Band from Rochester took the stage and immediately brought an incredible energy to the room, keeping the dance floor packed from the first song until the final encore.


One of the things that makes a wedding at The Gallagher Barn so special is how effortlessly the celebration flows between the indoor and outdoor spaces. Throughout the evening, guests stepped outside to enjoy the warm summer air and golden sunset before returning to the barn for an unforgettable night of live music, dancing, and celebrating Katie and Bryan's new beginning together.

Capturing the Day on Medium Format Film


One of my favorite parts of Katie and Bryan's wedding was slowing down to capture portions of the day on medium format film. Throughout the wedding, I photographed five rolls of 120 film, documenting everything from quiet moments while getting ready to portraits, the ceremony, and the evening celebration.


There's something special about shooting film on a wedding day. Every frame is intentional, and the rich tones, beautiful color rendition, and timeless character of medium format film create images that feel both nostalgic and refined. It complements my documentary approach by encouraging me to slow down and focus on genuine moments as they unfold.


Blending digital photography with medium format film allows couples to enjoy the best of both worlds: the consistency and flexibility of digital alongside the unmistakable look and artistry that only film can provide. Katie and Bryan's wedding at The Gallagher Barn was the perfect setting for both, and the film photographs added another layer of depth and timelessness to an already beautiful day.
